Gary Beck serves as chief operating officer of Alaska Airlines, overseeing the day-to-day operations on the ground and in the air. With an emphasis on continuous improvement, Gary is committed to delivering industry-leading safety standards, remarkable service and operational excellence for the over 45 million guests who rely on Alaska each year.
In his previous role as president and chief operations officer of Horizon Air, Gary was responsible for driving a strategy that strengthened Horizon Air's position as a valuable regional partner for Alaska Airlines while keeping a focus on safety, reliability, profitability, and a remarkable guest experience. At the same time, he focused on the people of Horizon Air, ensuring they feel heard and valued for the contributions they bring to Alaska Air Group.
Gary previously served as Alaska’s vice president of flight operations from 2008 to 2015. During that time, he oversaw 1,600 pilots, implemented sound operational processes, and invested wisely in game-changing technology that included pilot iPads and a paperless flight deck.
Gary studied aerospace engineering at Central Texas College and business administration at Northern Illinois University. He’s a qualified pilot on multiple aircraft with more than 15,000 flight hours.
