SEATTLE, Nov. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Alaska Airlines this week will begin service from the Pacific Northwest to Mexico, just in time for winter. The airline kicks off its new nonstop service between Seattle and Cancun on Nov. 6. Flights will operate daily through April 27, 2015. The airline also is offering new nonstop flights from Portland, Ore., to Puerto Vallarta starting Nov. 4 through April 26, 2015 and to Los Cabos starting Nov. 20 through April 27, 2015.

"With more flights from Seattle than any other airline, we are committed to offering the most nonstop service to the popular destinations our customers want to explore, including leisure hotspots like Cancun," said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines' senior vice president of communications and external relations.

Known for its 14-mile pristine Caribbean beach and all-inclusive resorts, Cancun is a short ferry ride to the turtle hatchery of Isla Mujeres and a two-hour drive from Chichen Itza, a historic Maya archaeological site.

"In addition, we are happy to add new nonstop flights to Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos for our Portland customers," Sprague said. "The new PortlandLos Cabos flights are significant, as they are part of the airline's efforts to help the region resume its status as a popular tourist location as it recovers from Hurricane Odile, which struck Sept. 14."
