SEATTLE, Nov. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Alaska Air Cargo announced today a cargo tracking service called Alaska Mobile Track™, which allows its cargo customers to track and monitor shipments from a mobile phone.

With the service, customers send a text message to Alaska Air Cargo with their air waybill number and receive a text response with tracking information regarding their shipment.  The feature is designed for customers who are on-the-go and want to receive tracking information wirelessly. Customers can also access the same information on the www.alaskacargo.com tracking webpage.

"We designed this service and built it ourselves based on our customers’ needs for receiving instant updates on time-critical shipments," said Torque Zubeck, Alaska Airlines’ managing director of air cargo. "It’s another way that Alaska Airlines is using technology to benefit our cargo shippers."

The service is free for those customers with unlimited texting options on their mobile phone. To use, customers simply send a text to Alaska Airlines Mobile Track at (206) 801-0607 using one of two options:

  • Text "AWB" and the eight-digit air waybill number (such as AWB 12345678) to receive an instant update on their shipment’s status.
  • Text "AWBALL" and the eight digit air waybill number (such as AWBALL 12345678) to receive the entire history of their shipment, including the times when it was accepted at the airline’s freight facility, booked on a flight, departed, arrived and was delivered to the customer.

Customers who have questions with the tracking information provided in the text response, can contact the Alaska Air Cargo Service Center at 1-800-225-2752.
