Caroline Boren joined Alaska Airlines as managing director of corporate and strategic communications with responsibility for the company’s corporate and internal communications as well as media relations.

"Caroline brings a breadth of managerial, editorial and product publicity experience to Alaska Airlines," said Lou Cancelmi, staff vice president of corporate communications. "Her track record managing high-profile corporate issues will be a real asset, especially during a time of unprecedented change within the airline industry."

A 15-year communications veteran, Boren comes to Alaska Airlines from public relations consultant Waggener Edstrom, where she spent eight years advising clients, including Microsoft and Texas Instruments, on a variety of business and communications initiatives. During the past year she also helped build Waggener Edstrom’s European operations and spearheaded the company’s new business development.

Before joining Waggener Edstrom, Boren led public relations for Western Wireless and VoiceStream Wireless, and served as a public information officer for Thurston County. She started her career as a publicity assistant with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Boren graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California School of Journalism and lives in Bellevue, Wash., with her husband and son.
