Alaska Airlines has promoted Scott Ridge to managing director of technical operations and support in the company's flight operations division. He will be responsible for dispatch, air traffic, operations engineering, technical publications and technology development. He also will support the airline's route and aircraft analysis.

An Alaska employee since 1998, Ridge previously served as director of flight operations and technical support. Prior to that he spent nine years at American Airlines in a similar position and five years at Boeing as an aerodynamic engineer.

"With Scott's technical expertise and his passion for our airline and its operations he will be a key member of our leadership team as we take Alaska into the next decade," said Kevin Finan, Alaska's vice president of flight operations.

Ridge holds a bachelor's degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the University of Washington. He graduated valedictorian from North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo, Wash. and now lives in Maple Valley with his wife Kathi and two sons.
