Alaska Air Group, Inc. today reported February passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska Airlines’ February traffic increased 5.4 percent to 1.184 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.123 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity during February was 1.676 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 1.0 percent higher than the 1.659 billion in February 2004.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 70.7 percent, compared to 67.7 percent in February 2004. The airline carried 1,174,800 passengers, compared to 1,133,300 in February 2004.

RPMs for the two-month period totaled 2.433 billion, an 8.1 percent increase from the 2.250 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the two months ended February 2005 increased 4.7 percent to 3.490 billion ASMs, compared to 3.333 billion in 2004.

The passenger load factor for the first two months of 2005 was 69.7 percent, compared to 67.5 percent in 2004. The airline carried 2,406,200 passengers, compared to 2,255,500 in 2004.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon Air’s February traffic increased 12.9 percent to 163.2 million RPMs from 144.5 million flown a year earlier. Capacity for February was 242.2 million ASMs, 8.5 percent higher than last year’s 223.2 million.

The passenger load factor for the month was 67.4 percent, compared to 64.8 percent last February. The airline carried 449,800 passengers, compared to 410,200 in February 2004.

RPMs for the two-month period totaled 334.2 million, a 22.6 percent increase from the 272.5 million recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the two months ended February 2005 increased 17.7 percent to 502.1 million ASMs, compared to 426.8 million in 2004.

The passenger load factor for the first two months of 2005 was 66.6 percent, compared to 63.9 percent in 2004. The airline carried 923,200 passengers, compared to 782,200 in 2004.

Horizon’s RPMs, passenger load factor and passengers are reported using actual February operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated operating data for Horizon’s regional jet service operated as Frontier JetExpress.
